You don't have to be sane to teach middle school

- I have spent the past 15 years trying to get middle schoolers to think about the world in which they live. And hopefully to help them become concerned about the state of that world and their role in it. Some days are more successful than others but that applies to just about every occupation. But there is nothing I have done that beats the excitement of watching young adults "get it!" I'm closer to the end of my career than the beginning and I hope that I have been able to send enough of them out into the cold, cruel world with the awareness that what each of them does makes a difference.
